I will focus talk on consumer identity and authentication. Customer identity and authentication is a rapidly evolving field with many supported methods such as user name and password authentication, and newer methods like social login, login with mobile number and passcode (sent to mobile number), email address and magic link and the very novel passwordless authentication. When you are dealing with hundreds of millions of customers, rolling out newer authentication methods requires lot of meticulous planning and rollout or else it will confuse customers, cause login outages and massively impact customer revenue. At Hilton, we serve close to 140 million consumers through our different web channel Hilton.com, Hilton Honors iOS and Android App, China iOS and Android App and China Miniprogram and our channels support different types of login such as traditional username and password, social login, mobile login and login w/WeChat UnionID with FIDO2 based Passkeys close on the horizon.
